About

Figurative Abstraction & Line

Gerardo Gonzalez is an artist and architect whose work explores the relationship between line, figure, space, color, and gesture. His practice moves between drawing, painting, and mixed media, combining observation with abstraction and material experimentation.

Drawing has remained a continuous part of his practice. The human figure, movement, architecture, bullfighting, and flamenco inform his interest in the expressive potential of line. He works intuitively, allowing gesture, repetition, texture, and accident to remain visible in the work.

In his paintings, line becomes both structure and movement, while color, texture, and material create an evolving space around the figure. His work moves between representation and abstraction, structure and spontaneity, with a particular interest in the human form.

His practice continues to investigate the space between structure and spontaneity, representation and abstraction, and the ordered logic of architecture and the freedom of gesture.

Three Figures

Signature Series

Three Figures explores the human form through continuous line drawing and expressive fields of color. The series brings together gesture, movement, abstraction, and the simplicity of line.

Process

Continuous Line Gesture & Material

Line is a continuous thread throughout my practice. I work through drawing, painting, and mixed media, allowing gesture, repetition, color, texture, and material to shape the work. I am interested in the balance between structure and spontaneity, where the process remains visible and the final image emerges through layers of decisions, movement, and chance.

Atelier

Material, Gesture & Process

The studio is a space for experimentation, where drawing, painting, and material come together through an intuitive process. Layers of color, gesture, texture, and found materials are developed through direct engagement with the work, allowing each piece to evolve through observation, repetition, and discovery.
